Houston chapter president, Cress Clippard graduated from North Carolina State University and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps in 2012. After completing the Basic Officer Course and Infantry Officer Course, he was assigned to Company C “Suicide Charley”, 1st Battalion, 7thMarine Regiment in Twentynine Palms, CA. He deployed to Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2014, where he assisted with the coalition retrograde from Sangin District, the security of FOB Dwyer in Garmsir District, and was the liaison to the Afghan National Army’s 1st Brigade, 215thCorps at Camp Garmsir. In 2015 and 2016, Cress deployed to Kuwait with the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force responsible for crisis response in U.S. Central Command. During that deployment, he commanded a Tactical Recovery of Aircraft and Personnel (TRAP) force, conducted a site survey and crisis response planning for the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, and maintained the training and readiness of his platoon for a variety of crisis response missions.
Director of Outreach, Srosh Wafa grew up in Mazar-I-Sharif, and then served in various parts of Afghanistan as an interpreter with the United States Army and the Marine Corps. He now lives in Houston with his wife and daughter and is passionate about helping his fellow honorary veterans find opportunity here.
