Elizabeth “Liz” Calvey currently heads No One Left Behind’s Women’s Initiative She previously served as the Director of External Relations and Special Initiatives at Partners of the Americas, an international development organization focusing on Latin America located in Washington, DC. Liz previously spent ten years living and working abroad including in Kenya, Chile, Senegal, Spain, and France. In Nairobi, Kenya, she led the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment’s (UN Women) initiatives in Economic Empowerment, Political Participation, and Peace and Security – including organizing the first ever Kenyan Women’s Police Union. At UN Women, she also expanded the organization’s network of women entrepreneurs and led efforts to educate women on their newly won rights and preference programs. Liz also spent time in Senegal supporting the Spanish Development Agency AECID, and NGOs Tostan and Construye Mundo’s implementation of women led Community Management Committees and projects combating gender-based violence and harmful traditional practices. She began her career working for JP Morgan before joining the Washington DC office of the late Sen. Edward “Ted” Kennedy. Liz graduated in 2005 from Pepperdine University with a BA in International Studies with a concentration in Political Science and in 2013 from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in Spain with a Masters in International Relations complemented with field study in Nairobi, Kenya and at Harvard University.
