Omar Al Nima
Denver, CO Chapter President
Omar Al Nima was born in Baghdad on the 29th of October 1965 and descends from a diversely educated middle-class family. I have 2 bachelor’s degrees, a BE in Electrical Engineering, University of Baghdad (1988) as well as BA in Translation, College of Art, University of Al Mustansiriya (2005). Being well equipped in the English language with an engineering background, in Jul 2003 I was recruited by a British-Kuwaiti company which had contracts with the US Army in their Camps all over Iraq. Between the year 2003 and the year 2010, I served all over Iraq from Talaafer, Rabiyaa, Sinjar, Mosul, Tikrit, to Kerbal, Najaf, Hilla, and lastly in Basrah Airport. Our main scope of work was to build a temporal high-quality accommodation for the troops, including their electrical installation and air conditioning. My last job title was Project Manager. I also served as a liaison between my company and the Army. It was a risky business that forced me to send my family abroad to Syria fearing for their safety. When moving to the US, I worked for 3 years as a sales associate in Rocky’s Autos Denver. Then, I have been recruited by Navajo Inc. as a Shipping Supervisor, for almost 2 years now and still working with them. Looking back in time right now, I feel I was blessed that I have been offered new life and opportunity for my family and myself.
