Nell Cady-Kruse was appointed as a non-executive director of Barclays US LLC in December 2017 and currently serves as Chair of its Risk Committee. In September 2016 Ms. Cady-Kruse was appointed as an Independent Director of the Board of Barclays Bank Delaware, which includes all of Barclays credit card and consumer banking business in the United States, and also serves as Chair of its Risk Committee.
Ms. Cady-Kruse is an accomplished executive with deep and broad experience that includes 30 years of tested skills in global financial services, banking, and risk management in the US, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia, with focus on leveraged lending, high yield bonds, corporate valuation, credit, market and operational risk management, and risk strategy.
Ms. Cady-Kruse was most recently the Global Chief Risk Officer, Wholesale Banking for Standard Chartered Bank, based in Singapore. As such, she was responsible for credit and operational risk in over 70 countries, mainly in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. She retired from Standard Chartered in 2014. Ms. Cady-Kruse also spent fifteen years with Bankers Trust Company where she worked in leveraged finance, high yield bonds, private equity, portfolio and risk management in New York, Los Angeles and London. After a year-long role as CFO of an Internet company during the dotcom bubble, Ms. Cady-Kruse went on to devote nine years to Credit Suisse in London, and then Hong Kong. She advanced from Head of Credit Risk Management for Europe, Middle East, and Africa, based in London, to Chief Risk Officer of the Asia Pacific region, based in Hong Kong. In this capacity, she was responsible for Credit, Market and Operational Risk in Investment Banking, Private Banking and Asset Management.
Ms. Cady-Kruse serves as member of the Cornell Alumni Council, the President’s Council of Cornell Women and the Emerging Markets Institute of Johnson at Cornell. Ms. Cady-Kruse is now an emeritus member of the Johnson Advisory Committee, after actively serving for a decade and chairing the Global Strategy Committee. Ms. Cady-Kruse is a CFA Charterholder and a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors. She earned the CERT Certificate in Cybersecurity Oversight from Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute in 2018. And in May 2019, Nell earned her CIPM – Certificate of Investment Performance Measurement from the CFA Institute. She has served on numerous boards, including Bankers Trust of California, Young Enterprise London, and the Risk Management Institute of the National University of Singapore.
Ms. Cady-Kruse received her MBA from Johnson at Cornell in 1985. She received her B.S. with Honors in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University. Nell prepared for her banking career by bartending, motorcycle mechanics and ballet.
